How did you spend New Year’s Day?<\/p>\n

Today, I want to share one of the big Korean traditions on New Year’s Day. Actually, Korea follows the lunar calendar, unlike America. So they celebrate New Year’s Day on a different day than in the States. Making Mandu (Korean dumplings) and eating rice cake soup are very common Korean traditions on New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, all of my family usually\u00a0 gathers and makes Mandu together. On the\u00a0 morning of New Year’s Day, we eat rice cake soup with Mandu. In Korea, eating the rice cake soup on New Year’s Day means becoming a year older.<\/p>\n

Last New Year’s Eve, I made Mandu with my friends and rice cake soup on the following day. I am happy that I can keep my Korean tradition here in America!<\/p>\n
